PM Modi to Launch Rs. 57 Crore Power Supply Project in Varanasi Today
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a packed schedule on Sunday starting with an address to the nation on radio, to visiting Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh where he will inaugurate a number of developmental projects.
PM Modi will address the nation at 11 am on his radio programme “Mann ki Baat” in which he shares his thoughts with the people.He will visit Jharkhand and lay the foundation stone of an agriculture research centre in Barhi area of Hazaribagh district.
On his arrival in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, he will be received by Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at the Babatpur airport. In his constituency of Varanasi, he will inaugurate a medical trauma centre at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus.
He will also review the developmental work on the ring road project for the holy city. The two-lane road from the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport to the city’s Varuna bridge is being converted into four-lane. This will ease traffic movement coming into the city.
The Prime Minister will launch the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) for uninterrupted power supply in the city. The central government was committed to provide budgetary support of Rs. 45,800 crore for IPDS, officials said. An amount of Rs. 1,067 crore has been sanctioned under IPDS for Uttar Pradesh of which Rs. 572 crore is for Varanasi. IPDS is aimed at converting overhead lines into underground cables in urban areas around the temples and ghats in Varanasi city.
Installing roof-top solar panels in government buildings is also a part of the ambitious scheme. PM Modi will address a “Vikas Sabha” at the DLW colony grounds, where a large number of people are expected to attend.
