Call back of 3,796 Ciaz by Maruti to fix clutch system
NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki on Monday said it is calling back 3,796 units of the newly-launched Ciaz sedan for fixing a potential problem in the clutch system.The company said it has decided to “proactively undertake a service campaign” to inspect a suspected fault and replace the relevant part of clutch operation system. The call-back will be for the manual transmission version of the model.
“These cars are among those manufactured till November 7,” the company said.The inspection and replacement will be done free-of-cost to the customer. “The initiative for the Ciaz is not a recall. It is a service campaign undertaken in the interest of the customers to minimize any future inconvenience. Service campaigns are undertaken globally by automobile companies to rectify faults that may potentially cause inconvenience to customers,” a company spokesperson said.
Maruti had launched Ciaz with an introductory price starting at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) last month. Earlier this year, Maruti had recalled 1,03,311 units of its popular models Ertiga, Swift and DZire — manufactured between November 12, 2013 and February 4, 2014 — to replace faulty fuel filler neck.
In September, the company had recalled 69,555 units ofmodels manufactured between March 2010 and August 2013 to repair the wiring harness fitment. The inspection and replacement will be done free-of-cost to the customer. “The initiative for the Ciaz is not a recall.
