17 Dead In Ammunition Depot Fire In Maharashtra’s Pulgaon

Fire broke out after explosion at one of India’s biggest ammunition depot. Two officers are among 17 army personnel killed in a massive fire at an ammunition depot in Maharashtra’s Pulgaon.

Around 19 people have been injured in the fire that has been raging since last night.Most of those killed belonged to the Defence Security Corps.

The fire broke out at around 1 am after an explosion and spread quickly through what is one of the biggest ammunition depots in India, with a huge stockpile of weapons.

Around 1,000 people from a nearby village have been evacuated.The army said firefighters have largely controlled the blaze but smaller fires and explosions are a worry.
