Cloudbursts at Amarnath yatra base camp: 2 killed, 10 injured

Srinagar: At least two people including one minor girl have been killed and 10 others injured following multiple cloudbursts in Baltal near the base camp of Amarnath Yatra in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

“Two bodies were found in the wee hours today which include a girl, aged 13 and a boy, aged 12. At least 10 others have sustained injuries and 11 have gone missing,” the official said.

A stretch of the Srinagar-Kargil road has caved in while the Srinagar-Leh road has been closed due to bad weather.

“Cloudburst struck near Baltal base camp and water entered some tents there,” he said, adding that the pilgrims have been moved to safer places.
