Sensex recovers losses in early trades today

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Sensex rallied as much as 295 points in trade on Tuesday after a gap-down start, led by gains in ICICI Bank, HDFC, HDFC Bank and Tata Motors.

Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index also managed to bounce back to reclaim its crucial psychological level of 8600, supported by gains in banks, autos, and metal stocks.

At 10:15 a.m., the 30-share index was at 28,423.88, up 196.49 points or 0.70 per cent. It touched a high of 28,522.77 and a lowof 28,044.49 in early trade.

The Nifty was at 8,587.20, up 61 points or 0.72 per cent. It touched a high of 8,613.35 and a low of 8,470.50 in early trade.
