Besides banks and ATMs, these are places where you can withdraw cash
New Delhi: Ever since the Modi government announced the demonetisation of old currency notes – Rs 500 and Rs 1000 – it’s been chaos on streets of India, especially those leading to banks and ATMs.
Millions have been thronging banks and ATMs to exchange/deposit cash or withdraw them with shortage of cash playing the spoiltsport on many occasions.
In all, the government has been taking every step and effort possible to supply the people with enough cash in the banks and ATMs.
And while ATMs and banks are sure places to get cash, many other places such as petrol pumps have started dispensing cash at the swipe of debit cards.
Here is the list of places where customers can withdraw cash through cards.
1. Petrol Pumps:-
Starting November 18, 700 petrol pumps across the country have started dispensing cash at the swipe of debit cards.
The facility to provide Rs 2,000 per day per card has been reportedly extended to Rs 2,500 petrol pumps and will in due course be available at 20,000 outlets across the country.
Swipe machines of State Bank of India, Citi Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank are reportedly at the petrol pumps.
2. Big Bazaar, fbb Stores:
Starting November 24, customers can withdraw up to a sum of Rs 2000 per day per card from 258 Big Bazaar and fbb stores over 115 cities and towns across the country.
State Bank of India has helped Big Bazaar activate this facility through the bank’s Cash at POS machines. Customers can withdraw cash from their bank accounts of any scheduled bank in the country
3. Vodafone M-Pesa Outlets:
Vodafone M-Pesa became the latest entity to join the cash-withdrawal facility provider on Thursday announcing that its customers can withdraw cash from its 1.2 lakh outlets across the country.
Vodafone M-Pesa customers do not need to stand in long queues outside ATMs and bank branches for cash. We have invested in building a nationwide network of over 120,000 M-Pesa outlets, equivalent to the numbers of bank branches in the country, the company said in a statement.
“Our customers can visit any of these outlets and use the unique cash out feature of Vodafone M-Pesa to withdraw cash from their digital wallet at their convenience,” Vodafone M-Pesa Business head Suresh Sethi said in a statement.
