After Jharkhand and Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh government bans ‘MSG 2’

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh on Friday became the third state to ban screening the film Messenger of God 2. Last week Chattisgarh and Jharkhand had banned the film calling it as an ‘ínsult to tribals’.

This is the second movie starring controversial godman Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh of Dera Sacha Sauda sect. The film was released on September 18 across the country on 2000 screens.

Last week Chattisgarh and Jharkhand had banned the film calling it as an ‘ínsult to tribals’.

Protests took place over the screening of the movie across Punjab. Sect supporters blocked railway tracks and roads at some places in south west Punjab to oppose the “unofficial ban” on the film’s screening in the sate, putting people to inconvenience.

Protesters blocked rail tracks and roads in Moga, Sangrur, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Amritsar and Jalandhar districts despite inclement weather and rain. The sect, which has its headquarters near Sirsa town in neighbouring Haryana, has lakhs of followers across Punjab.
