Friday Releases: ‘Titli’, ‘Main Aur Charles’, ‘Guddu Ki Gun’ released

The first release this weekend is Yash Raj Films’ ‘Titli’. The movie is being hailed as one of the hard hitting indie films ever made in India. The movie’s trailer was modified to suit the taste of Indian audiences and hence, one can imagine how hard and deep the movie is slated to hit.

Marking Kanu Behl’s directorial debut, ‘Titli’ stars Ranvir Shorey, Amit Sial and newcomer Shashank Arora. The movie has been produced by ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’ director Dibakar Banerjee and Yash Raj Films.

The movie tells the story of Titli, the youngest member of a violent car-jacking brotherhood, who plots a desperate bid to escape the ‘family’ business. His struggle to do so is countered at each stage by his indignant brothers, who finally try marrying him off to ‘settle’ him.

The second release is Randeep Hooda starrer ‘Main Aur Charles’, which is not a biopic on the ill-famous “bikini killer” Charles Sobhraj, but a larger than life account of his adventures.

Also starring Richa Chadha, Saurabh Sarkar, Satyaendra Gupta, Sandeep Punia, Lucky Morani, Vipin Sharma, Dijana Dejanovic, Mandana Karimi, Alex O’Neil, Shanti Mei and Anastasia, the movie has been promoted decently and like ‘Titli’ looks to thrive on a good word of mouth.

Another release this weekend is Kunal Kemmu starrer ‘Guddu Ki Gun’. Coming out as a movie in which a male has been objectified for the very first time, the movie has a limited reach due to its risque subject.

The dialogues too appear bold enough for the Indian audiences and hence, stands to derive extreme reactions. Not promoted well, the movie may well become a coming-of-age comic caper or a dud with further demeaning Kunal Kemmu’s career. Helmed by director duo Shantanu Ray Chhibber and Sheershak Anand, the movie also stars Bengali actress Payel Sarkar, who makes her Bollywood debut with the project and Aparna Sharma.

With three intriguing releases, this proves to be a good week for the viewers who like their movies a bit different and distinct in looks and taste.
