Govt to do away with job interviews after PM Modi’s request
New Delhi: The government has decided to do away with the process of interviews for junior posts, according to a report by NDTV. This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called to end the culture of ‘sifarish’.
The new system will come into effect from January 1 next year, skill tests and physical tests will not be dispensed with and candidates will have to prove their competence before being recruited, according to the report.
In his Independence Day speech, the Prime Minister had said that a reason for corruption was the need for ‘approach’ felt by people while applying for jobs.
Modi had said sometimes a candidate is high on merit list for a job but is rejected in the interview.
The PM asked all departments to end practice of interviews at the earliest and promote merit by recruiting only through transparent, online processes.
