Gujarat: Kheda sadhu booked for sexual abuse of 15-year-old boy

The Kheda town police has registered a complaint of alleged child abuse against the Swami of a Gurukul on Sunday.

According to the complaint registered by the father of the 15-year-old boy, who is the victim, the Swami repeatedly abused his son and threatened to kill him if he revealed the same to anyone.

The Kheda police has launched a hunt for Sadhu Atmaswami, who is allegedly missing after the complaint was lodged in Naroda in Ahmedabad.

The accused Atmaswami ran a Gurukul in Kheda town, that included a residential boys hostel. The incident came to light on Sunday evening, when the father of the Class X student in the residential Gurukul run by Atmaswami, lodged an FIR of child abuse against Atmaswami, alleging that the local self-styled spiritual guru had abused his
son.

According to the FIR lodged at Kheda town police station, Atmaswami has been accused of indulging in unnatural acts with the victim from August 3-26 and specifically on September 8, Atmaswami forced the victim to “dress up as a girl”.

A police officer of the Kheda town police said, “The complainant, who is the father of the minor victim said that the accused Atmaswami made his son dress up like a girl and forced him to perform unnatural sexual acts to please him. The latest incident occurred on September 8, between 1pm to 2pm. He later threatened to kill the boy if he revealed the incident to anyone. The sadhu has gone missing from the Gurukul and we have formed a team to track him down.”

According to the police, the victim’s parents found out about their son being abused at the Gurukul when he went home for a break due to Paryushan. Police officials said that on finding their son reserved and quiet, the parents probed and the boy broke down to reveal the sexual abuse he was going through at the Gurukul.

The Swami has been charged with sections of the IPC for unnatural acts, criminal force and intimidation as well as sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO).
