Indian Navy surveillance aircraft crashes in Goa

The Indian Navy has started a full scale search and rescue operation to look for its two officers who have gone missing after a Navy dornier plunged into the sea off the Goa coast. The incident took place on Tuesday night around 10 pm when the aircraft had gone for a routine training sortie.

“Last known position of the dornier was 25 nautical miles south South West off Goa. One survivor has been rescued. Full scale search and rescue operation has been launched to locate two more officers (one pilot and one observer) , ” a release from the Navy read.

Of the two who are missing, one is a lady officer of the rank of the Lieutenant who was the observer on the dornier. Preliminary findings indicate that the plane developed some technical problems after which it plunged into the sea.
