Kerala’s Thazhathangady Juma Masjid breaks 1000-year-old tradition

Kottayam: For the first time, 1000-year-old Thazhathangady Juma Mosque in Kerala has opened its doors to women.

The move by mosque commitee has come following a sustained campaign by activists.

Breaking the 1000-year-old tradition, the mosque commitee has now allowed women to have a look at the inside of the mosque.

Thazhathangady Juma Masjid, one of the oldest mosques in India, is situated in Thazhathangady.

Thazhathangady is one of the Heritage Zones of Kerala, near the town of Kottayam.
