Modi addresses BJP MPs on govt’s welfare schemes

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the agreements with France and Canada are big achievements and would have a huge impact in the coming days.

Addressing members of parliament of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Modi said that even though every government tried to push through the nuclear deals, but it was successful now.

The one-day workshop coincides with the Congress’s ‘Kisan Rally’ at the Ram Leela Grounds and comes at a time when the opposition is consistently working to paint the government as “anti-poor” and “pro-industry”.

The workshop, “Garib Kalyan Yojnaye: Its Effective Implementation and Role of MPs”, will focus on the government’s pro-poor welfare programmes and how to take them to the grassroots level.

Modi discussed the various government schemes and said that the government has been dedicated to the poor of this country from the very first day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attack the opposition for trying to project the government as anti-poor on issue of land acquisition bill at the day-long workshop of BJP parliamentarians.

During his address, the Prime Minister also spoke about India’s success in the rescue process during the Yemen crisis and lauded ministers Sushma Swaraj and VK Singh for their efforts.

He also said that the government should always be thankful to the people for reposing their faith in them and electing them with a complete majority.

The meeting took place just days before the Modi government completes a year in office.

BJP will later hold similar workshop for private secretaries and personal assistants of MPs. A senior party leader said the success of the schemes directly depends on the involvement of local public representatives, who need to have proper understanding and should make a concerted effort for cooperation of people and involvement of the bureaucracy.
