P M Modi announces Rs.80,000-cr package for J&K

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced Rs 80,000-crore package for all-round development of Jammu and Kashmir.

“There won’t be any dearth of money. Not only our treasury, but our heart also beats for you”, Mr. Modi said while addressing a rally in Sher-e- Kashmir Cricket Stadium at Sonawar on Friday.

Ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers, migrant labourers and casual employees of Jammu and Kashmir government formed the bulk of the audience for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public rally here.

A significant number of labourers, hailing from Bihar, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, were seen in Sher—e—Kashmir Stadium at Sonawar among the audience for the PM’s rally.

As the presence of migrant labourers drew attention of media, PDP workers shoved them to the back rows in the stadium.

The PDP workers indulged in intense sloganeering hailing Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and party president Mehbooba Mufti.

Earlier, Mobile internet services in Kashmir Valley were blocked in the morning as a precautionary measure in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally here.

“Mobile internet services have been temporarily discontinued in the Valley in the wake of the PM’s visit,” officials said.

They said it was a precautionary measure in view of the high profile visit.

The officials said all service providers had been directed to disconnect the mobile internet services from 10 am till the Prime Minister leaves the Valley.

However, broadband services on BSNL were working.
