Bhagalpur rally: PM likely to respond to Sonia, Nitish.

At his fourth Parivartan rally in Bhagalpur on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to respond to the leaders of the grand alliance, including Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who had made a blistering attack on him at the Swabhiman rally held at Patna on August 30.

Ms. Gandhi had shared the dais with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav.

Both Ms. Gandhi and Mr. Kumar had attacked the Prime Minister for his rollback on the land acquisition Ordinance.

The grand alliance leaders had also slammed Mr. Modi for not fulfilling his promises, that include bringing back black money, job opportunities to unemployed youth.

The Bihar Chief Minister had also flayed Mr. Modi for his ‘DNA’ jibe. At Bhagalpur, local BJP leaders told The Hindu that Mr. Modi would respond to the statements.

“It’s not that everyone can make any statement against PM Modi and get carried away with it. Yes, definitely they [grand alliance leaders] would be responded to”, said party MP from Buxar Ashwani Choubey.

The Prime Minister must question Ms. Gandhi for sharing a dais with Mr. Prasad, whose political credentials in the country is that of a corrupt leader, added Mr. Choubey.

To garner support for the Prime Minister’s rally, BJP leaders Syed Shahnawaz Hussain and Rajiv Pratap Rudy had a road-show on Monday in Bhagalpur.

“This rally will be a historic one as a large crowd is expected to descend. A large number of Muslim supporters too will participate in the rally”, said Mr. Hussain.

Mr. Hussain, who had lost the last Lok Sabha polls from Bhagalpur, has been camping in the district for the last three weeks to make the rally successful.
