PM Narendra Modi in Bihar: terms grand alliance as ‘Mahaswarthbandhan’

Munger: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a blistering attack on Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav saying that the people who used to praise Jaiprakash Narayan, have forged an alliance with the Congress, which had jailed the great leader.

Addressing a massive rally in Bihar’s Munger district, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s star campaigner said, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia always stood for anti-Congressism, but there are some who claimed to follow him, but are with the grand old party.

While stressing the need to change Bihar’s destiny, PM Modi said, “For the first time Bihar polls are based on the idea of development and progress for the youth.”

Taking on RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for saying that Hindus too eat beef, the BJP leader said, “See how a leader insulted the Yaduvansh..the Yaduvanshi people have given India the White Revolution and are inspired by Lord Krishna.”

“Lalu ji, elections come and go, but please do not forget these are the people who stood with you,” PM Modi asserted.

“Those who eat meat are not sabhya (civilised) people. Poor people eat meat to beat their hunger… Those who go outside (the country) eat beef. Even Hindus eat beef. There is no difference between beef and goat meat,” Lalu had told reporters.

Further hitting out at the grand alliance, the Prime Minister said, “This election is clear – on one side is Jungle Raj and other side is Vikas Raj.”

PM Modi termed the grand alliance of Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress as ‘Mahaswarthbandhan’.

The main contest is between the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and the grand alliance of Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress.

Bihar will elect a new 243-member Assembly in staggered polls to be held between October 12 and November 5. The counting of votes will be held on November 8.

A recent survey has indicated that the BJP-led NDA will get 147 seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections, whereas the grand alliance will bag 64 seats.
