Robert Vadra’s name removed from no-frisk list at domestic airports

The Civil Aviation ministry has removed Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi from the “no-frisk” list at airports across the country. The move comes after Mr. Vodra in a Facebook post two days back, asked government to remove him from the list.

Mr. Vadra was the only private person apart from the Dalai Lama, whose names figure in the list of 31 categories of persons exempted from frisking at airports. Former Prime Ministers and Presidents, Chief Justice of India are others whose name figure in the list.

Reacting to the news reports, Mr. Vadra wrote on his Facebook page: “I appreciate that my name will not appear in the VVIP list anymore. I hope this is a dead issue now and will not be used against me. My Best wishes.”

Minister of State (Civil Aviation) Mahesh Sharma confirmed that Mr. Vadra has been removed from the privilege list. Mr. Sharma said the decision comes after Mr. Vadra’s Facebook post, where he himself asked to be removed from the list.
