Sunanda Pushkar murder case: SIT to quiz Shashi Tharoor today
New Delhi: Almost a week after quizzing Sunanda Pushkar’s son Shiv Menon in connection with her mysterious death, Delhi Police’s Special Investigation Team will on Thursday question former Union minister Shashi Tharoor.
Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi told reporters had on Wednesday said Tharoor will be quizzed again “because we need clarification on certain points from him”.
Asked whether Tharoors’ domestic help Naryan Singh will also be questioned again, Bassi had said, “The witnesses who were at home or were present at the hotel, there are few clarifications which need to be obtained from them too.”
“There are many things emerging from the analysis of the statements so far but we will be able to reach a conclusion only after the investigation is over,” he had added.
Menon was questioned by the Special Investigation Team on February 5.The police team probing the case has questioned at least 15 people.
Tharoor, a Congress MP, his staff members and close friends were among those quizzed by the Delhi Police. Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and senior journalist Nalini Singh, too, have been questioned by police.
52-year-old Sunanda was found dead in her suite at a five star hotel in south Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014, a day after she was involved in a spat with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar on microblogging website Twitter over the latter’s alleged affair with Tharoor.
Police had last month filed a murder case as part of its probe.
