Sunanda Pushkar’s Death Mystery: SIT questions Shashi Tharoor’s domestic help
New Delhi: Congress leader and MP from Kerala, Shashi Tharoor’s domestic help was questioned by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) of Delhi Police on Thursday probing the death of Sunanda Pushkar.Sources said Tharoor’s domestic help Narayan Singh was interrogated at an undisclosed location in South Delhi, as per PTI. He was interrogated by police at least twice earlier.
His interrogation came a day after a letter, written by Tharoor in November last year to Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi, surfaced in which the Congress MP accused investigators of ‘assaulting’ and ‘intimidating’ Singh into ‘confessing’ that they both killed Sunanda.
Tharoor’s wife was found dead under mysterious circumstances in January 17 last year in a Delhi hotel.Delhi Police had on Tuesday registered a murder case in connection with Sunanda’s death under section 302 of IPC on the basis of an AIIMS medical report that concluded that her death was unnatural and due to poisoning.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi today clarified that they have not issued any legal notice to Tharoor in connection with the death of his wife.
“The investigating officer has to collect more information and all evidences are being examined and verified,” he added.
Yesterday, reports had emerged quoting senior police officials that Delhi Police had served a notice to Tharoor asking him to join investigation into the death of his wife.
As per the reports, Tharoor who is in Kerala, had been asked to join probe at the earliest.Tharoor had said on Tuesday that he was ‘stunned’ over Delhi Police registering a murder case in connection with death of his wife Sunanda. Calling for a “comprehensive investigation” into the case so that “unvarnished truth” comes out, he said he will continue to extend full cooperation to the police.
