Kiran Bedi, Former IPS Officer joins BJP

NEW DELHI:Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi, has joined the BJP on Thrusday. Her inclusion in BJP was indicative of the party’s assessment of the political situation in Delhi. BJP on Thursday inducted Kiran Bedi amid strong indication that it could project the country’s first woman IPS officer as its CM candidate.

“The parliamentary board will take a call on who will be CM and all BJP leaders could be considered by the board including Bedi who has now joined the party,” said Shah, reversing the earlier decision not to go with a CM face. Bedi, however, may not be fielded against Kejriwal in his New Delhi constituency.

That the former top cop is better placed than the old-timers came through clearly in Shah’s effusive praise for her. “Kiran Bedi’s constructive contribution will play an important role in ensuring that BJP lives up to the expectation of the people in the election and in any future government,” he said, the remark being seen as a hint at Bedi’s formal projection.
