Sensex tumbled down about 1,000 points; Rupee at its lowest since Sept 2013

The BSE-Sensex dipped about 1,000 points to its lowest of 26,359.53 this morning while Nifty dropped by 240 points. Asian peers, Hang Seng, Nikkei and Shanghai were down 4.08 per cent, 3.21 per cent and 8.01 per cent at 21,495, 18,812 and 3,226.82, respectively.

The rupee slumped to as low as 66.48 per dollar, its lowest since September 2013, as Asian markets reeled under fears of a China-led global economic slowdown. The rupee was at 66.41/42 by 09.03 am, down from its close of 65.8250/8350 on Friday.
