BMW CEO Krueger faints on stage at Frankfurt auto show

While it was expected to be all about cars, the first headlines from the Frankfurt International Motor Show came from the German auto giant BMW when its new chief executive officer, Harald Krueger, fainted on stage on Tuesday.

According to a Reuters witness, Krueger collapsed as he was commenting on BMW’s latest models during a news conference. Two men rushed to the centre stage and escorted him off stage. Krueger was able to walk.

Later on, a BMW spokesperson said, “I’m a bit lost for words. BMW will try to redo the press conference at a later stage.”

Krueger joined BMW AG in 1992 as a trainee and made his way to the top post at the Munich-based carmaker on May 13 this year.

Two men rushed to the stage and helped Krueger walk off the stage.

The 66th Frankfurt International Motor Show starts on Sept 15 and will go on till Sept 27. The event sees the world’s biggest automakers flexing their muscles bringing their best models to the world.
