Jailed and deported back, ‘study in US’ dreams of these 30 Indian students shattered
Hyderabad: A group of fourteen Indian students were deported after being interrogated for almost 15 hours by FBI. According to the students, they were kept in cells and grilled by the FBI in San Francisco before being deported back to India.
Another group of about 19 students was stopped from boarding flight at Hyderabad by Air India following a report that the university which they were about to join in US is under scrutiny by the local authorities there.
Air India told that all these students had a valid visa and other documents but were off loaded from the flight because the Silicon Valley University at San Jose and North Western Polytechnic College, Fremont, both in California, where these students were heading for admissions are blacklisted by the local authorities. Air India said that the students were stopped from travelling to prevent them from further embarrassment and deportation.
Air India was provided this information by US Customs and Border protection agency. Most of the deported students are from Hyderabad, Delhi, Chhattisgarh and other states too.
Air India had asked travel agents and other ticketing agencies not to issue tickets to students travelling to US for admissions into these universities.
